Sacrament Meeting

The small man living in my house -- sometimes referred to as K.J., but mostly as "Brother" here at home (courtesy "Sis") -- kicks me about a million times every week during sacrament meeting. It's really not personal ... he claims it is accidental, and strangely, I believe him. He just has to sit glued to my side and can not keep his feet still. Now, at first, the kicking was annoying but no big deal. Then, after the 7,892nd kick, it became a big deal. It became a real sore point for me (clever). But I still love him. We can still be friends, and all. I just have to encourage him to lean his head on my shoulder but keep the lower half of his body as far away as possible. Olivia is doing her best to keep her dad out of the meeting and in the hallway. It's very surprising how successful she is, because Ben is a real stickler about that sort of thing. The only thing I can figure is that she is his princess, and he gets charmed despite his best efforts not to. Being female myself, I am much more immune to those tactics.

Yesterday Ben surprised me by taking the day off. It was great. He brought me breakfast in bed, gave me a 'Coldplay' C.D., and my parents so kindly watched my kids so he could take me out to lunch. We went to Texas Roadhouse and it was amazingly delicious and it was fun to just be together. We were able to talk and that is very conducive to a marriage and something we should really think about doing more often. I appreciated my nice Valentine's.

Today something wonderful happened. K.J. had fallen asleep with his head in my lap for a little while. When he woke up, my friend Paulette was playing a beautiful piano solo of "I Am A Child of God." The spirit lent a calm, peaceful feeling to the meeting. K.J. turned in my lap and looked up at me with his big blue eyes. I stroked his little face and hair and then he sat up a little and watched Paulette for a minute, listening calmly. Then he smiled at me -- a very gentle little smile -- and whispered "Mom, I feel happy."

It was a very nice moment.

talk about a sweet little moment. my goodness k.j., that is so cute! i think braden has to be one of the wildest children ever in sacrament meeting. today he threw a grape, a frog, and then dropped a paper and tractor behind our pew. let's just say both the people in front of us and behind us were busy picking up all braden's things. seriously, do we have any control of this sweet little boy? and i loved hearing how ben is a total succor for olivia. kinda makes me laugh:). so glad today was a successful sacrament meeting. i'll be sure and post when we have one :). and happy belated valentine's to you. breakfast in bed and a lunch date--what more could you want! love yah FC! have a happy sunday!!

Oh, I think a tear just fell down my cheek! I am so glad that my solo made KJ feel happy. That is why I chose that song...I thought it would mean something more to the children and remind us of the simple happiness that comes from living the gospel. I am so glad you enjoyed it, because I enjoyed playing it for you!

I am glad you had such a nice Valentines Day! You definitely deserved it!

That is so sweet! I always thought KJ was such a sweet boy! So funny story....I thought I had added you to my list and I kept thinking: Marie needs to update, I think I should give her a hard time! Then I realize that you weren't on my list! So now you are and I can keep track better! I love reading your blog! Your so funny! It makes me miss hanging out with ya!
