Adventures In Dentistry

My innocent, unsuspecting children have had the misfortune of inheriting my junk teeth genes. That means that this morning at 6:15 (that's a.m., folks) we left our humble abode to go to the office of our very own pediatric dentist, Dr. Scholzen, so that he could knock our children out and do some serious dental work on both of them. We finally got home at 11:00, with two sicky, sleepy kids. After laying in Mommy and Daddy's bed and getting waiting on hand and foot for awhile, they are now fully on their way to recovery! It's a pretty pathetic sight to sit next to your honey in the recovery room, each with an semi-conscious, barfing child in arms. The highlight: when they were finally well enough for us to go and we carried them into the foyer. Then K.J. barfed all down Ben's back and the floor! 30 seconds later, Olivia barfed down my arm and onto the floor! Best barf ever, for our family. It was embarrassing but funny to see the three receptions frantically trying to hold up garbage cans and wipes, and the two unfortunate kids who witnessed it and were totally disgusted. But tooth wise all went well and I'm truly thankful for the benefits of modern medicine and the coupons from the paper, 'cause that saved us one hundred bucks! If any of you are looking for a dentist for your kids, I would really recommend Dr. Scholzen. He was great with them, especially today when the work was being done, and his staff was awesome and so concerned and attentive. And, most importantly, my kids weren't scared -- and they are already talking about it as a positive experience. Go, team! Only $950 to go and this dental visit will be totally paid off!!!

yikes!! Poor kids, but glad they are positive about it all. sorry you both were barfed on, though. 6:15 to go to the dentist for anything is just NOT right...

Dude, it's a good thing you're really cool or I would feel bad for your children and their dental inheritance.

I am really enjoying this lovely theme from Star Wars. It makes me think of popcorn, Orange Crush, and Burdette--all very good things. Thanks, Auntie.

I have been wondering all morning if they were there yet. I'm glad you got it over with. Sorry about the barfing. If it was me they would have had a scene because I would have been barfing too! I am very scared for my girls' appointments on Friday. I can't wait to have it behind me! We must be on the same wave length to call the dentist about the same time....weird!

6:15 AM FOR A DENTIST APPOINTMENT. that is pure torture. going to the dentist is bad enough but going to the dentist at that hour... so wow, the barf thing does not sound good. poor kids. poor you. poor ben. glad to hear all are doing well after being waited on in your bed. it's funny how when kids are sick our beds seem to be a good solution to make them feel better. we do the same thing at the meier household...but it's recent since braden was just recently kicked out of our bed. when he hurt his eye the other day, that's where he napped. so you rock...and i need to hear what's going on in your house world! love yah

Did you even get dressed for Dr. Scholzen? I'm thinking he would've had the opportunity to see me in my lounge-wear at that time of day. Oy. I'm glad you chose to find something funny in that situation. Do you think the receptionists will always grab a garbage can to carry around your kids when you come in? Because the thought of that brings a smile to my face. Tee hee. Golly, I can't even get to the gym at 6:15. Really.

Too bad you were both holding kids and didn't have a camera. That would have made a great scrapbook page!!

I took Daniel in last month. It was quite an experience! I went to a diffrent doctor, but he was amazing!I also lucked out in that there was no barfing! Yay for me:) I did get a kick out of him when they gave him the medicine right before they take him away to be put to sleep. He kept puting his hands in the air and saying "I want to be a bear....rarrrrr" It was the funiest thing ever! I must have looked like an idiot, because I kept laughing at him. It was way funnier in person! Sorry for the long comment! I am glad your kids are better!
