Christmas and Harrison. Ford, That Is.

This last Saturday was our annual Sperry Family Christmas Party. It was really fun. I have both anticipated it and dreaded it, as it is our first year without our Granny. But it was great, I got to savor the flavor of 18 of my 23 cousins (don't forget to count me, 'cause I'm 21 of 24 and I must be counted) and all of my Aunts and Uncles, both sane and insane. It was awesome. So much work goes into it and I would like to thank the higher ups who do so much to make it happen. I think I will probably write more about it later. I like my family. Like, for real.
Liv tried so hard to be brave while sitting on Santa's lap. It was down-right terrifying, but she mustered her courage and sat... only slightly paralyzed. Since he gave her a new dolly, which is exactly what she wanted, she is now talking about him like he's the greatest guy ever and wants to sit on his lap again... like... immediately. When she got down she told her brother "Don't a be scared, Kaje. He is really a very nice boy!"

Kaje also mustered his courage, and then froze when it came down to telling Jolly Old Saint Nick what he wanted. He finally came up with "trains," which was a request all new to me this year. Don't tell him, and Santa might pull through, but I just don't think it's gonna happen. He's already got ten million trains. Santa gave him an erector set, which has been endlessly entertaining. Thank you, Santa. You are a very nice boy!

What I really want to talk about is Christmas in a box. My Aunt Jan, bless her, took mercy on my poor derelict soul and gave me the following box -- a box of Fernwood Mints, which as we all know, completely constitutes Christmas in a Box. A box of goodness, holiness, and all that is right with the world. I opened it last night and ate FIVE. And that took a lot of self control. Because it's like eating a whole holiday, there is that much sense memory involved.

Look at that mint chocolate goodness. I eat these for you, Grandma. Mmmmm.... I hope they have them in heaven!! If not, I will have some on hand for the Resurrection. We shall enjoy them together.

Also, meet Harrison Ford.

He is The Fugitive. No, really. He is. I have watched this movie with my Dad like nine million times. I watched it last night. I watched it this morning, 'cause I fell asleep last night. And seriously, I might watch it again today. I fully expect to watch it nineteen million more times during my lifetime. Because it is the best movie ever. Best acting, best story, best directing, best jump off a dam waterfall (haha, wanted to say it), best everything. It is a movie that was made to be watched over and over. I love you, Fugitive. I would like to give you all a copy for Christmas, 'cause it is the best. I send you a pretend copy. Check your mail today! Harrison -- it's just me and you, buddy. Well, except for Tommy Lee. It's just you, me, and Tommy Lee Jones. And it's good. It is very good.

Guess what - Fernwood Mints are on SALE at Mt. Nebo Market this week for $3.49. This is $1.50 less than the normal price. Taylei was awarded the mints for jump roping at the party and she WILL NOT share them with me. Now, mind you, I share with her, on occasion, one. Shouldn't she share with me? Five is amazing restraint -- I think -- ok, I'm quite sure I have eaten the entire box in a day. I didn't know you had the same passion for them, so divine, so delicious, so Granny. Man, I miss her. And, just for your knowledge, the mints that come in the ZCMI style box DO actually taste better than the grocery store box kind. Not sure why, maybe Granny has something to do with that. I sure miss her -- I guess I already mentioned that. I bawled my eyes out when I realized I was wrapping presents for her for the last year ever . . . might start crying again. Love you, Reese. We'll have to share a box of mints sometime, you'll have to bring your own because I'm amazingly selfish when it comes to sharing one of life's greatest treasures.

I love how Santa freaks kids out in real life. Is that twisted of me? My Olivia wouldn't go near him--wouldn't even look at him--even though it was just Bro. Casper from the stake high council wearing a fake beard. She loves Bro. Casper in real life. Maybe they don't trust Santa because somehow they know that the wool is being pulled over their eyes.

P.S. Those mints look good, I'll have to try them. :)
