Just A Little Story Discussion Is All

So Mr. McButterPants here had his Christmas Program today. It was so wonderful. He was adorable, and mustered all his courage to sing and participate in front of a surprisingly large crowd.
I was so proud.
Somehow I am the mother of a particularly shy child. I never had that problem, really, except once at a piano recital when I was about 11. Otherwise I can get up and blow hot air as well as the next spazmo.
His father, and you wouldn't know it now, was an exceptionally shy child.
That's what I blame it on.
Sometimes his teacher tries to torment me by suggesting something is wrong with him because he's a little shy and doesn't love singing in front of people. I just wanna punch her in the face. He is, after all, my little bear cub. But today -- oh, yes today -- he showed her! He showed them all!
He was a champion.
And boy, do I feel full of the Christmas spirit!
They sang "Rudolph," of course, and he was the only kid out of fifty that was doing the echo part. It was awesome. I laughed. I was happy.
And full, because for a nutritious reward (something seems wrong here), we stopped at the library for some books and went to the local McDonald's so Momma could read and the kids could bounce all over the play place while eating very nutritious french fries and McDouble's. What you are not seeing here is that I have fed my children both intellectually and physically. I read them part of "A Christmas Carol," they looked at dinosaurs in Kaje's book, and they ate both pickles on the burgers and also potatoes.
I am a very, very good mother.
Don't you guys just love "A Christmas Carol"? By far the most awesome, funny, touching, and terrifying Christmas story out there. It is down right freaky at times, which I love.
I was sitting there surrounded by techicolor chairs when I read this famous part as the first spirit appeared to Scrooge (brace yourselves):
"The curtains of his bed were drawn aside; and Scrooge, starting up into a half-recumbent attitude, found himself face to face with the un-earthly visitor who drew them: as close to it as I am now to you, and I am standing in the spirit at your elbow."
Ack! Screech! Chills of terror! Also, hilarious!
I just love that part. It's pretty much my favorite. Well, it's all pretty much my favorite. It's radical. Thank you, Charles Dickens. I just think you are the dearest man.
Guess what.
I am done with my Christmas shopping. I am happy. Now I just have to wrap it. That slightly detracts from my happiness. Giving gifts is the down right best part of Christmas. I just love it.
I love those magi. I love O. Henry for writing "The Gift of the Magi," which is maybe the greatest short Christmas story ever. It makes me cry every single time. But that's just 'cause I love my husband so, so much. And that's a story for another day.
I love you, friends. Happy Hannukah.

Alex sold his i-pod to buy me a sewing machine once. But I didn't sell anything to buy him music for his i-pod, so I'm sadly lame compared to the magi.

And I agree that you are an excellent mother. Grace never eats her pickles!
