On This Day, December 2nd...

My Mom was born on this day. She came into the world with the most beautiful dark eyes, an absolute angel. My Grandpa delivered her in the hallway of the hospital right before the doctor got there. To hear my Grandma tell the story, it was absolute love at first sight. The only problem was my Grandma was so worried the Lord would take her new precious baby because she hadn't too thrilled to be pregnant (being "too old" at 34 with a 16 year old). But she wasn't too old, and my Mom was born and remained the 'baby' of the family until... well, to this day. She'll never escape it. Even at 83 years old, my Grandma would speak with such love and devotion of the baby that day and the woman my Mother has become.

I really love my Mom.
No, I mean I really, really love my Mom.

She is everything a Mom should be. She didn't get to be a stay-at-home Mom, but I never felt like she wasn't a part of every moment of my day. I don't know how she did it, working full time and then coming home to be a full-time Mom to four slightly obnoxious children, but she did it! I used to love to stop at the clinic after school, because she was always so interested in the happenings of my day.

And for that matter, she still makes me feel like she's interested in every part of my day. Which is a pretty awesome quality for a Mom to have.
She's pretty much my best buddy ever.

This is not an exaggeration: Everything lovely, good, and true -- everything virtuous or praiseworthy in my life -- is all because of her. Any act of service I am able to perform, every bit of devotion to my faith, every ounce of nurturing I have within me -- she instilled there.
She's a pretty darn good lady.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Thanks for being born!!! Thanks for being you! I love you.

Happy Birthday from me as well! Your mom is not only a wonderful mom but also an amazing aunt. I remember eating dinner with you guys once in Hurricane. We had egg sandwiches -- I didn't know they good taste so good until then - not sure they've tasted that good again!
