What A Girl Wants

This morning I heard Miss Olivia rifling around in the silverware drawer. When she came back into the living room, she was slowly pulling a fork through her luxurious (albeit mullet-like) locks. "Do I look beautiful?" she asked. "Do I look like a mermaid?"
What could I say but YES! She is obsessed with the 'dinglehopper' from The Little Mermaid. I am pretty sure she is convinced it is the beauty secret of the century.
A few minutes later she carried her little stool into the room, climbed up on it, held out her hands and cleared her throat: "Behold! Behold! The mighty...." She proceeded to do this about ten times in a row, because I was a very captive audience. It was hilarious. And every time she would give a big dramatic ahem, ahem before "Behold!" What a kid.

The Double B took K.J. with him yesterday for their monthly trip to the barber. Imagine my shock when Daddy reported that K.J. talked the barber's ear off the entire haircut. Ben said he literally gave her his life history, beginning with kindergarten and covering all the bases of his friends/cousins, the time Grandma and Mommy took him to Disneyland for his birthday, and once when he was very very little and he went to the beach.
This is so not my oldest child. In the past, if anyone he doesn't know well looks at him with even the intent to talk, he goes off to la-la land and pretends he isn't even there. I found this totally amazing, because the Double B said the hair dresser could barely get a word in edge-wise. Go, K.J., go! He is also extremely fond of his new haircut, and thinks he looks very "shiny." In fact, he was terrorized that he had to take a shower before school today, because he was afraid it wouldn't look just right. Daddy assured him he would look so good that all the girls would want to kiss him. K.J. thought this was very silly until Olivia proclaimed "I wanna kiss ya, K.J.!" and laid a big juicy one right on his cheek.

It is those moments that make life totally awesome.

Can you believe the Jazz victory last night?! I was sitting up in my bed with the antennae stuck in my armpit -- what can I say, my pit gets exceptionally good reception -- listening while I played Mario Brothers on the Nintendo DS. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, I just played the first level about twenty times in a row, because it was the only one I could play and still follow the game as closely as it called for. Haha, Nuggets! Nobody cares about you, anyway!!! Except all the people in Denver. But they don't count. My honey fell asleep -- weakling -- just as he heard the lineup for the fourth quarter. I think he gave up. But not I. After the game, I was awake for about fifteen minutes. And I had a smile on my face those entire fifteen minutes, let me assure you. I don't think the dishwasher has ever been loaded so cheerfully. I seriously thought about running around the cul-de-sac in my unders. But I didn't. But I could have.
I just love the Jazz. I can't help it. It is a love affair of Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr proportions.

Thing I want the most right now (besides a caffeine-free Diet Coke): a clean house.
Thing I hate doing the most right now: cleaning my house.
Thing I need lots more of: energy.
Thing that wears me out most: pretty much everything. Except sitting at the couch and willing the room to clean itself. I have lots of energy for that.
Thing I deserve the least: The Double B (can he count as a thing?). He is a mighty patient human being.
Thing I deserve the most: chocolate. And a blue ribbon. I don't know what the blue ribbon is for, but I deserve one.
Thing(s) that make life awesome: my kids.
Thing that is beating the crud out of me: pregnancy and a thirty pound weight-gain that is only the beginning -- I'm going for seventy. 'Cause why the flip not.
The End.

awe rie. i love you. your post was ridiculously awesome. and pregnancy STINKS. no iffs, ands, or butts about it. a clean house and pregnancy really don't go together. so you are free to let your house be for a very long time. just sit on your couch and let yourself get the rest you deserve. i still remember so many times when i was pregnant with braden that i went to bed with a house that looked like a couple tornadoes hit. it's okay. i am pretty excited about the jazz too. we are going to the game friday night (thanks to my madre). i will cheer extra loud for you!
