I'm Not Going To Lie; I Think I'm Right About This.

I have to say something about the whole Proposition 8 decision... since, you know, I'm here in Utah and it doesn't affect me politically. Nevertheless (such a great word), I have a concern over the whole judicial system that I must get off of my chest. Most of us know and love someone who is gay. That is not what I want to talk about. I myself don't have those feelings, so it would be really easy for me to say something and have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about in regards to their choices. Either way, we all have our feelings on the matter and that's not what my mind is concerned over today.

What I really want to say is this: I get very annoyed when those who are in favor of gay marriage absolutely rejoice over a judicial decision that overturned the voice of the people. In fact, I even read one woman's statement that "she was proud to be from California again." Of course, it was a famous person who said it, and therefore null and void. Because as an actor here, I'm about to let you in on a little secret: for the most part, actors are stupid. Don't tell anyone I let you in on our secret. We are basically a stupid lot. A stupid lot who all love attention. So don't put that much weight into what we tell you, and that includes me. Anyhow, I read that statement and it just concerned me, deep in my bones. If the judicial branch can obliverate the voice of the people, they need to be checked. They are too powerful. In fact, they are scary. CHECK THEM, SOMEONE! That is why we have the whole "checks and balances" thing. Mr. President? Senate full of people possibly even stupider then actors? Would either of you do something here? It is sad that those people can not see what has really happened because they got what they wanted, and that is this: the voice of the masses just got squashed in a most dictator-like fashion. The American Studies student inside of me absolutely shudders. Shudder, shudder, shudder.

I will now climb off my soap box. Except perhaps to say: please keep in mind... I'm an actor.
Thank you for listening... now go and have a great day!

I think you're right here, too.
