Last night the Double B and I watched an episode of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' wherein Debra and Ray assign possible replacements for themselves in case one of them should keel over. It was funny. I giggled, and thought "What an absolutely horrible idea for me to ever consider!"
Unfortunately, having not yet learned his lesson, the Double B thought that this would be a good game to play today.
The conversation went something like this:
B - Who would you pick to replace you?
M - Uh-uh. No way! Mmm-mmm. No. Nope! No.
B - Come on, tell me!
M - No. We are not playing this game. To quote Raymond, "I consider myself irreplaceable."
B - I'll tell you who'd I'd pick to replace me.
M - NO! I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!
B - But I have some really good options. They'd both be really good for you!
M - No, you weirdo! No!
B - I just think it's good to have options.
M - Whatever. No.
And then, because he kept pushing the issue, we got into a debate about the merits of re-marrying (his plan) versus a life of good wholesome single parenting (my plan).
The Double B sometimes sets himself up for punishment. It's really very endearing.

I'm totally with you on your plan. DJ and I have this discussion frequently (which, now that I think of it, probably isn't very healthy) and I always tell him I will never remarry. Imagine. Being single.... :) I KNOW he has my replacement picked out.
I have already told Alex who he may re-marry. I just don't want my kids to have no mom.
Actually, we have a pact to die when we are old and on the same day to avoid any such nonsense.
hee hee. I'm on your side!
I have to agree with Jen. I wouldn't want my kids to be without a mom if they were very young. But I'd also rather the issue just never came up. I think it would have to be between the parent and the children who were left behind not up to the one who died!
yup. My husband would remarry. me? no. I am done with weddings...haha. I hate thinking about it though. I love that episode by the way. LOVE that show!
