Easter Candy and Other Small Things

Hello.

Are we all familiar with the Easter candy Peeps? Delicious sugar-coated marshmallows in the shape of small friendly animals?
They mean everything to Olivia. In this she has taken after her maternal Grandmother. I think my Mom has finally met her match in the Peep-lovin' category, which I didn't think would ever be possible. Except at our house... they are "CHEEPS." Which is even cuter, if you think about it.

I've always partaken of Cheeps, but really, I only think they are so-so. I don't love them, or anything. But my Mom loves them, and so I want to love them, so I eat them. Does this make sense to anyone else?

I would like to know why Easter candy is so overwhelmingly tasty. And if you're anything like me, you walk down the candy aisle at Wally's World feeling almost frantic that you won't be able to take it all in in time. This dangerous course of thinking leads to mass buying of Easter candy, which leads to mass eating of Easter candy, particularly late at night. I think even the people at Reese's put something special in their peanut butter at Easter time, which is cruel, since they have my little family's unswerving devotion, anyway.

K.J. went on his epic field trip, but when he walked in from school it was with a frown. He threw off his backpack and flung himself down on the couch, not even able to muster a hug for his loyal Mother. I asked, rather perkily I thought, "How was the field trip?!" To which he raised his little eyes up at me and sighed "Dexhausting." Which is sort of like "exhausting" at our house. Even the ride on the school bus wasn't as awesome as he was hoping. Sigh. Life is full of these little conundrums.

K.J. and Olivia have a dental check-up today. I am making the Double B take them, because though we seriously do administer large doses of oral hygiene to my children, they have so far inherited my piece-of-junk teeth and it makes me cry every time I have to look at them scared in the tiny chair and the face of their dentist as he gives me the "you are a bad parent" look. Yikes. This is what Double B's are for, to take the fall for their significant others. He'll do it, too. And it will not affect him emotionally at all, that is the best part. He'll be just as happy leaving as he was going in. He's very valuable that way.

Last night the Young Women scoured the entire ward boundary to sell as many tickets to the spaghetti fundraising dinner as possible (for Girl's Camp, you know the drill). And we were so happy with their final number! In fact, my friend Jodi and I had something similar to a nuclear meltdown in the back of the room, laughing hysterically and then almost crying hysterically while the girls stared at us like we were aliens. Only because the meltdown happened while they were singing a very reverent version of "I am a Child of God," though. So... perhaps we were like aliens. Sort of like the return of the Ten Tribes, or something. It was fun, though!

Hope you are all happy today. Go eat some cheeps!
Signing off.

I feel the same way about Peeps. I think they're really cute and I WANT to love them, alas...I only like them. Kind of like how I feel about high heels. Well, maybe I lean more toward hate when it comes to heels. But I WANT to love them. They're so cute. Anyway, you see what I'm getting at.

Macey's on her field trip today. Let us pray that it is dexhausting; I need a quiet evening. :)
