Baby Bella

Beautiful Baby Bella!
We're so glad to have her in our lives.

Katee only had to wait a year for this best friend to appear!

I got to experience the most amazing thing!
My beautiful new niece, Isabella Helena, was born last Friday, and in one of the great honors of my whole life, I got to be there for her arrival.
It was incredible! Really and honestly, one of the most inspiring things I've ever experienced. It was just such an honor to be there for her entrance into this world! I feel truly privileged that I got to see such a miracle at work. Seeing a baby come into this world was like seeing the sweeping palm of God for me. I was amazed again at His power and goodness.
And Bella is so beautiful! You wouldn't even believe it. She is the most gorgeous baby in the world. I truly love this little, tiny, tiny dark-haired bundle of joy.
Watching my little brother become a Daddy was pretty awesome. Watching Sil become a Mommy and working so hard when she was so overwhelmingly exhausted, and in so much pain that it seemed impossible, was incredible.

I've had the enormous gift of being able to give birth three times, and so I was already intensely aware of the amazing power of being a woman and bringing forth life. In fact, becoming a Mother erased forever any fears I carried of God somehow discriminating against women (I'm funny, you see). By giving birth, I learned at least a little of the awesome power and responsibility He has entrusted us with. Plus, it's just so darn cool. But seeing it in action was a whole different ballgame. What was emotionally and physically profound experiencing it suddenly became a real sense of awe at what a woman's body and spirit can do. Way too amazing. Too amazing for words, actually. I'm just so thankful I got to be there and see it for myself.

Becoming a Mommy makes three of the four most sacred experiences of my life. Seeing Bella come into the world is right up there next to that. Isn't it funny how so many of the sweetest moments in our lives have to do with new life? Holding her for the first time I felt such a burst of love for her. It reminded me of the first time I held my niece Adelah, who we were so happy to see after such a long wait -- such a profound swelling of love for a child that was not my own but that I would do my darndest to help nurture and protect all my life.

What else can I say? Amazing.

P.S. For Your Information: I used the word Amazing 6 times. And since that didn't seem adequate, I threw in 16 other accolades. I counted so you don't have to. You're welcome.
