The Dance Off

Lots to write about, no brain to do it with. Therefore; a funny story.

This morning I was dropping off K.J. and crew at school. His teacher, a truly marvelous woman, was on corner duty and came up to our car. She leaned in the window laughing at something K.J. had said (he was distressed that the women folk in the back seat hadn't shut their door and left it to him) and proceeded to tell me this story:

"K.J. is so funny. Last week one of their assignments was to write about when they'd had a problem at school and how they'd solved it. K.J. wrote that once some bully's came up to him, his friend, and his cousin on the playground. They said they were going to beat them up unless they won them in a dance off. K.J. said 'You're on!'... they danced like crazy and beat the bully's. K.J. danced on their feet, and that's how they won the dance off."

We were both laughing, and I said "Yep, that's my son."

Then she added "Last week K.J. came up to me and said, 'Mrs. _____, I snuck my ballet shoes to school so that I could show you!!!"

What a kid. I told her he feels a great need to show everyone important his ballet shoes. She is very supportive of him. She said "Well, I think that's great! I wish I had that kind of coordination. He is such a great kid, I absolutely love him."

And... scene.

Oh, K.J.
You are one of a kind.
