Ruminating

Is it really May?
May happened?!
Awesome.
I love May.
My kids are absolutely chomping at the bit to be done with school. Not sure exactly how we fill the days, since we need to take a serious step back from modern technology, but it shall be done! I am excited to have them all to myself. They have a really fun summer school program out here, but it is the same as regular school schedule -- 9 to 4 -- and I just couldn't do that. I feel like I spend so little time with K.J. and Olivia as it is during the school week. We have about a quality hour of chilling before school (not getting ready), then we get home about 4:15 and bedtime is at 8. My kids need more Mom time, and that is all there is to it (and I need more kid time, that's for sure!).
I love being a stay-at-home Mom. The only problem with it is that your older kids go to school all day and you and your two-year-old are left to stare at each other. Poor Katelyn. Darn that all day kindergarten! Worst invention ever!

I really want to finish my degree. Random? Yes. But I have been thinking about it a lot lately -- of course, I always think about it when it is actually impossible to do at that moment. I only have two semesters left -- and thanks to BYU's independent study -- one day I will be able to finish that at home. It has just always been a life-long goal of mine, and I don't want too much more time to pass before I accomplish it. I am hoping in four years we'll be ready to go. Not that it would change anything... I'd still be a stay-at-home Mom... it would just be fun to have. Of course, there are so many ways to gain education, and I should really up the anty in my own personal time, to learn and grow. The Double B, who has hated school since his very first day, had no intention of getting a college degree and has provided very well for our family, so obviously it's not the only way to go. Besides being super hot, he is one of the wisest people I know. It's just a personal goal of mine I would like to accomplish. One day...

Katelyn is starting the first name phase for Mommy and Daddy. A few days ago she came up to me and asked "What's your name?" I said "Mommy." "No! What's you naaaaame?" I told her my name is Marie, but she calls me Mommy. "Oh. Ma-rie?" And all day long "Ma-rie? Ma-rrrrie!" So I'd remind her that Daddy calls me Marie, but she calls me Mommy. "Oh, yeah. Mommy. Marie? Mommy." She really says it in the cutest way, totally melts my heart. We've been going back and forth on this whole name thing for a few days, which privately I think is stinking adorable, but we still work on it. I'm trying to help her before it becomes a problem, because if you really want to irk the Double B, talk to him about children calling their parents by their first names. This morning as I was setting out breakfast she asked for the Double B by his first name, "Where's B----?" I said "Daddy is at work." "Where's B----?" she repeated. So I reminded her that Mommy calls Daddy that, but she just calls Daddy "Daddy."
Katelyn. She is the funniest kid.

That's pretty funny. Some of mine have asked what my other first name was or what my middle name was! Such a fun age. Way to go with making a plan to finish your degree. You can do it.
