Golden Summer

 My chickens at Kaleidoscope.
Who's the coolest Mom?!
Woot! Woot!
Just kidding (mostly). Kaleidoscope is this super awesome free art mecca put on by Hallmark in downtown KC. Should you ever do the right thing and come and visit, I will take you there! Did you know that Hallmark is stationed right here in my own metro? I didn't know that. I had to move here to know it, too! Sigh. I wish I was more up to date about geographical locations that involve large national businesses.
I guess.
We've been partying like it's 1999, because in two days -- gulp -- school starts.

~ crickets ~

But first.
Katelyn just had her 3-year-old checkup and is healthy as a horse, thank heavens, and maintains her reputation as 95% and upwards. I am proud, because I like being tall, and think she would be a really great tall person. Here is something funny, though. Our doctor, who is super nice, and really loves Mormons because his best friend growing up was Mormon and he spotted us from a mile away, noticed something when he pulled on her legs. He said "Oh, she's a little knock-kneed, isn't she." I was surprised. I said "Really? Because she has been bow-legged -- like a rodeo queen -- her whole walking career." And then HE was surprised. He hemmed and hawed and then said "Well, I guess she decided to over-compensate! She'll get it all figured out!"
Ha ha. You can sort of see it in the picture above, too. So cute. So all you friends and relatives that just had to chuckle at Katelyn's barrel walk, TAKE NOTE. The girl is turned in! (P.S. Aren't those thighs the cutest? Oh my. I just love stretchy pants on that little rag-a-muffin!)

Let's talk briefly about the horror that is lurking in the shade. I am talking, obviously, about school. School, school, school. That horrible institution that is taking my children from me! I told the Double B at dinner tonight that this has been the BEST summer since I was a kid myself. He just raised his eyebrows at me. But it's true! I get lonely here on the vast plain, and suddenly I had the best company in the world!!! We did fun things, we snuggled, we visited home. It was like -- perfect. The Double B said he got to spend a lot of time with people, too, just not the people he wanted to! Ha ha. He is funny. He said he was happy I had such a fun summer and it will be such a busy fall that I won't even have time to feel sorry about it. Hope so! He also said how the kids need to learn and grow and blah blah blah. All the things he is required by law to say.
That Double B. I'd just be a mess without him!

Dear Adult Children,
Just know, spending every day with you the summer of 2013 was a dream come true. I love you and would freeze you in time if I felt like it was the right thing to do (and I could get away with it)! You are the best kids I could ever imagine and by some magical twist of wonderful, you are MINE.
I couldn't be luckier.
Love,
Mom
P.S. You can call me if you feel bad that your kids have to go back to school. I will understand!
