This week has not been my most productive ever. I've felt yucky, went to the dentist on Tuesday for a delightful root canal and new cap and have had a toothache ever since, developed a several day long headache of awesomeness and have just felt sick, sick, sick. Yesterday was the worst day yet. I was pretty miserable and kinda blind in that special headache way, and on top of that knew I would be teaching my musical theater class, the most exuberant class OF ALL TIME, so there was some concern on top of all that. The Double B came home early to find me in bed -- again -- and Katelyn naked from the waste down (she is Mother Nature's Daughter) -- again. He said "Katelyn, where is your underwear?!" And she ran in to me and said "Mommy, why you not let me wear underwear?!?"
And so it goes.
But this is more then a story about my current physical and mental deficiencies, it is, in fact, a story about the Double B. My students were very understanding and did their best to not scream and to be cooperative, and while it may not have been the most exciting class ever, we got it done. I was proud of them. Sometime in there, the Double B headed upstairs and started making dinner... a delicious invented thing that involved dumplings. So after surviving class, we sat down to a set table and homemade meal (second night in a row he did this), and he even made sure it was something soft and warm, hoping to not bother my tooth. Romance, people. After dinner, I needed to go to the store to get some contact solution so I could take out my contacts and give my head a break, but he insisted he go. When I said No, I would go, he'd been slaving all day, he said "No. Marie. You are sick. You have a headache. You have a toothache. You are pregnant. You are my wife. I am going to the store and you are going to remember how to find a common denominator so you can help KJ get through his homework, and then you are going to bed."
He is the sweetest man. I just wrapped my arms around his waist from my chair and thanked him for taking care of me. He is the absolute best person I know. I felt so loved.
And he taught me how to find a common denominator again, and after explaining it, demanded "Were you in a field of daisies just then, or did you follow me?!" Ha ha ha. He knows me so well! But I wasn't in daisies, I paid attention to my fourth grade refresher course and KJ and I got through it like champions.
And he even bought me little chocolate Hostess donuts, because he loves me so.
So the moral of the story is, be kind to one another. And also, I'm pregnant.
Yep!!! HURRAY!!! Best news to happen to our family in a long time, and we are so so so thankful and so happy and so excited. I have never been so happy to be so sick. Seriously. I've just felt happy about it the whole time. Getting tired of it, yes, but profoundly happy for the reason.
I am thirteen weeks along and due August 2nd. We are so thankful.
We weren't positive we would get to take this journey again, and so I am extra grateful, and grateful for the lessons I learned along the way.
We told our kids on Christmas and they are so happy and excited. They are hoping for a boy so KJ can have a brother, but we know we will be so happy either way! KJ feels like it will be okay if it's a girl because he can still teach it to be exactly like him (And we think that would be a great thing. He makes us smile). I am excited for this new experience of having older kids to help with the baby and really take in and remember the experience.
On Tuesday at the dentist the dental hygienist congratulated me and asked if I had any other children. I said "Yes, this will be our fourth," and she just about died! She really could not contain her shock. Could not believe it. That we were having a FOURTH. Ha ha ha. I just laughed along with her.
Because I know how much this fourth baby is wanted and loved. Yay!
